If you're coming from Oak Hill it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Fall Branch in West Virginia is 1.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-IV section. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter,
this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This is a somewhat short
section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. The ATV trail to River Road on New River above Sandstone falls stretch is the only paddling stretch along Fall Branch. The scenic beauty of West Virginia and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle.

the driest. If you feel like a little side tour, try Jerrys Hollow. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Fall Branch, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Fall Branch are in the 10's.
