This section of Fall Branch in West Virginia is 1.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-IV section. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance
then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The put-in location is a short drive from Oak Hill, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The scenic
beauty of Raleigh County and the water flowing gracefully down Fall Branch will make you feel great. This is a pretty short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more.
Briefly about the general area: During the warmest time of the year, highs commonly are in the 80's at Fall Branch. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's; after
the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Fall Branch fall into the 10's. Much rain falls at Fall Branch; July is the month that gets the most rain; the driest month is February. A great place to stop by next to Fall Branch is Jerrys Hollow.
