This section of Fall Branch in Raleigh County is 1.5 miles long and it is classified as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of West Virginia and the playfulness of the water beats anything. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. There are no other sections to paddle along
Fall Branch than the ATV trail to River Road on New River above Sandstone falls section. This is a pretty short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance
because these hotels fill up quick. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here.
Briefly about the general area: Fall Branch usually gets a lot of precipitation; July is when you get the most rain here, and February meanwhile is the driest month. During the long summer days, highs regularly are in the 80's at Fall Branch, and the nighttime is a bit colder of course, commonly in the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 30's; after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Fall Branch dip into the 10's. A brilliant place next to Fall Branch is Jerrys Hollow.
