The Sinks outlet to Cheat River Dry Fork stretch of Gandy Creek in Randolph County is 13.6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III section of whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camp stove. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and a chance
to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. The wonderful Randolph County scenery and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t
have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. Gandy Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Sinks outlet to Cheat River Dry Fork stretch is the only one.
Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike along the Elza Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area; don't leave Gandy Creek without first paying a visit to Ray Mullennex Spring. The warmest time of the year at Gandy Creek comes with
high temperatures in the 80's. Summer night lows fall down to the 50's. Through the wintertime highs are usually in the 30's; nighttime lows at Gandy Creek through the wintertime ordinarily descend into the 10's. At this river you will always have a good time. Have a pleasant
hiking adventure along the Bee Trail. Little Low Place is in the vicinity of Gandy Creek and is definitely a fine site to stop by; the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Mary Elza Spring. Gandy Creek is a reasonably wet place typically with a large amount of rain; July is the month that gets the most rain; February is the month with the least moisture.
