This stretch of Gauley River in Webster County is 10.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II(III) section of whitewater. The Donaldson to Camden-on-Gauley stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too. The nearby hotels are a bit     away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: Don't leave Gauley River without first going for a hike along the Harris Siding Trail, and there's perfect hiking along the Adkin Rockhouse Trail. Summertime highs at Gauley River commonly tend to be in the 80's, and the overnight is a bit cooler of course, commonly in the 60's. During the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 40's with temperatures at Gauley River dipping down into the 20's all through winter   nights. Gauley River regularly gets much precipitation; throughout the month of July you get the most rain around here while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
