Whitewater rafting and kayaking in West Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. The wonderful Webster/Nicholas County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip.     This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: A good deal of rainfall falls at Gauley River; during July this area sees the most rain, and January on the other hand is the driest. For the period of the summer months highs here at Gauley River get into the 80's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs   in the 40's; throughout the dark hours in the winter at Gauley River temperatures sink to the 20's. The Harris Siding Trail offers hiking at its best, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Perry Ridge Trail.
