If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your camping stuff too. High temperatures at Gauley River through the warm months are in the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's while the   cold winter nights at Gauley River are in the 20's. Gauley River is a relatively wet place regularly with a lot of rain; July is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is February.
