This stretch of Greenbrier River is 7.7 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. You can
pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. The beautiful scenery of Pocahontas County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons
enough to come here and paddle.
Briefly about the general area: Summer brings highs in the 70's to Greenbrier River, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Greenbrier River. Lots of rainfall falls at Greenbrier River; the month with most of the rain is July while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Good hiking is available along the Little Mountain Trail.
