The Cass to Clover Lick section of Greenbrier River is 10 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The nature scenery of Pocahontas County and the water flowing gracefully down Greenbrier River beats anything. There are campgrounds quite near the river
where you can camp. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Cass to Clover Lick stretch is just one of many. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in West Virginia are often easier than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers
here are less demanding.
Briefly about the general area: Greenbrier River is a rather wet place regularly with a good deal of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is regularly July, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is February. At this river you will always have a good time. Greenbrier River is right by the Scarlet Oak Trail, and Seneca State Forest is a tremendous local forest. High temperatures at Greenbrier River throughout the warm months are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the
50's. Throughout the winter highs are frequently in the 30's while Greenbrier River night low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 10's. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Hill Top Trail, and skiing at Snowshoe is one of those things you just have to do.
