The beautiful scenery of Pocahontas County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. The Cass to Clover Lick stretch of Greenbrier River in West Virginia is 10 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. The campgrounds here at Greenbrier River are pretty good. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. Lodging is
available near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that
many runs in this state are very easy. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of spots for that. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove.
Briefly about the general area: There's a great forest in close proximity to Greenbrier River called Seneca State Forest; you can go for a hike on the Hill Top Trail. Greenbrier River is a wet spot that gets lots of rainfall; July is the wettest month with most rain while February is the month
with the least amount of precipitation. Good hiking is available along the Scarlet Oak Trail, and why not head up to Snowshoe and strap some skis to your feet. Lots of fun awaits you along this river. Summertime highs at Greenbrier River mostly tend to be in the 70's with night
lows in the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Greenbrier River temperatures drop to the 10's.
