This section of Greenbrier River in West Virginia is 8.7 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in West Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a
very popular destination. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. The Clover Lick to Laurel Run section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. This stretch is mid length,
it's good length for a morning trip. The wonderful West Virginia scenery and the cool fresh water will make you feel great.
Briefly about the general area: At Greenbrier River during the summer highs are in the 70's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Greenbrier River are in the 10's. The high level of rainfall makes Greenbrier River a relatively wet location; July is the wettest month with most rain; February
is when it's the driest. Hiking along the Marlin Mountain Trail is glorious fun. Going for a hike along the Scarlet Oak Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and Scale Hollow is around here, and is a good spot.
