Whitewater rafting and kayaking in West Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. This section of Greenbrier River in Pocahontas County is 8.7 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater.
The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too.

about the general area: Throughout the summertime at Greenbrier River highs are usually in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's while the cold winter nights at Greenbrier River are in the 10's. The Scarlet Oak Trail offers hiking at its best. Greenbrier River mostly gets a large amount of rain; most of the rain falls during July while February is mostly the driest month. There's great hiking along the Marlin Mountain Trail, and unsurprisingly, A visit to Scale Hollow is always fun.
