The nature scenery of Pocahontas County and the water flowing gracefully down Greenbrier River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in West Virginia are easier than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. There are some good hotels near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Laurel Run to Marlinton stretch is just one of many.

about the general area: Why not take a refreshing hike along the Marlin Mountain Trail, and Greenbrier River is right by the Buckley Mountain Trail. High temperatures at Greenbrier River during the long summer days are in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Greenbrier River descend into the 10's. Much rainfall falls at Greenbrier River; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and February is when it's the driest.
