The average West Virginia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. This section of Greenbrier River in Pocahontas County is 9.9 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short
distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has
a large number of paddling spots. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: During the long summer days, highs generally are in the 80's at Greenbrier River. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Greenbrier River. All the water
falling down from the sky makes Greenbrier River a wet place; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is February. If the weather is fine here at Greenbrier River, you can go for a hike along the Marlin Mountain Trail, and the Buckley Mountain Trail is a glorious hiking trail close by.
