This section of Greenbrier River - East Fork in West Virginia is 5.1 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Pocahontas County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in West Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. The FS
51 to Island Campground section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you're a camper you can camp
at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here.
Briefly about the general area: Take a hike on the East Fork Trail; hiking along the Hinkle Run Trail is glorious fun.
