The Island Campground to confluence with West Fork at Durbin section of Greenbrier River - East Fork in West Virginia is 8.9 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. The average West Virginia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop
    paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. The campgrounds here at Greenbrier River - East Fork are pretty good. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This river system is full of great paddling sections,
the Island Campground to confluence with West Fork at Durbin section is just one of them. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that.

Greenbrier River - East Fork is a relatively wet place commonly with a good deal of rain; the wettest month of the year is generally July, that's the one that rains the most, and February is when it's the
 
driest. There's delightful hiking along the Span Oak Trail; a brilliant spot to have a look at is Hawchen Hollow.
Through the summertime highs here at Greenbrier River - East Fork reach the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's. All through the wintertime highs are typically in the 30's while Greenbrier River - East Fork overnight low temperatures throughout the wintertime are in the 10's.
