I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Guyandotte River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Simon to R D Bailey Lake backwaters section is the only one. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: During the warm days of summer here at Guyandotte River, high temperatures ordinarily reach the 80's while nighttime lows are mostly in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's with temperatures at Guyandotte River dipping down into the 20's
during winter nights. Guyandotte River is a wet site that gets a great deal of rain; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain while October is ordinarily the driest month. Barn Hollow is in close proximity to Guyandotte River and is beyond doubt a splendid spot to explore.
