The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in West Virginia are often more forgiving than in other states, so don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. This stretch of Howard Creek is 3.1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III section. There are no other stretches to paddle along Howard Creek than the Hart Run to Confluence of Greenbrier River stretch. This is a pretty short section     so better bring some good walking shoes. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. The campgrounds here at Howard Creek are pretty good. There are many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Briefly about the general area: For the period of the days of summer at Howard Creek highs are usually in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's with temperatures at Howard Creek dipping down into the 10's all through winter nights. Howard Creek sees pretty high levels of rainfall; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and January meanwhile is the driest month.
