The wonderful Webster County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This stretch of Laurel Creek - Elk River Tributary is 7.6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV section. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations
you might end up sleeping in your car. The Confluence with McAvoy Run to Erbacon section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep
in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding.
