The scenic beauty of Summers County and the water flowing gracefully down Laurel Creek - New River Tributary will make you feel great. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. The put-in is not too
    far from Oak Hill, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This river system
has a few good paddling sections and the Route 41 bridge at Kathryn to New River/Sandstone section is one of them. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here.
