CLASS II-V 5.8 miles
The Green Sulphur Springs to confluence of New River stretch of Lick Creek is 5.8 miles long and is a class II-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in West Virginia tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you
glad you came. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The wonderful Summers County scenery and
the water flowing gracefully down Lick Creek make the trip here worthwhile. There are no other sections to paddle along Lick Creek than the Green Sulphur Springs to confluence of New River section. The starting point is not too far from Oak Hill, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that.
