This section of Lick Run in West Virginia is 2 miles long and has been rated as a class IV section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The natural beauty of Preston County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there
are lots of good rivers for that around here. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is a pretty short section so it's not like you're gonna
spend hours on the river in one stretch. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are no other sections to paddle along Lick Run than the CR 59 to Cheat River section.
Briefly about the general area: Summer brings highs in the 80's to Lick Run with overnight lows in the 60's. Through the winter highs are in the 30's; night lows in the 10's for Lick Run. Lick Run gets a common amount of rain; throughout the month of July you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is February.
