If you're coming from Morgantown it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nature scenery of Preston County and the cool fresh water have people coming here. The CR 59 to Cheat River stretch of Lick Run in West Virginia is 2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV section. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. A good workout |

and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive
| a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are no other sections to paddle along Lick Run than the CR 59 to Cheat River section. This is a short paddling stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times.
