The FS 17 to Burner stretch of Little River in Pocahontas County is 3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. This is a somewhat short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The campgrounds     here at Little River are pretty good. Little River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the FS 17 to Burner stretch is the only one. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: At Little River throughout the days of summer highs are in the 80's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are frequently in the 30's, and overnight lows during the winter for Little River tend to be in the 10's. The Burner Mountain Trail   is a great hiking trail close to Little River. A visit to Reservoir Hollow is always fun, and close by you locate the East Fork Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail. Little River is a wet place that gets a lot of precipitation; July is when you get the most rain here, and February meanwhile is the driest month.
