Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. This stretch of Little Sandy Creek in Preston County is 5.35 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then     no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The put-in is not too far from Morgantown, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Rt 26 to Big Sandy Creek section is one of them. There's camping available near Little Sandy Creek.
