Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. If you're coming from Oak Hill it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful West Virginia scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places
for that. The North Page to Deepwater section of Loop Creek in Fayette County is 9.3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III(V) section. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend
a night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The North Page to Deepwater section is the only paddling section along Loop Creek. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon.
Briefly about the general area: Loop Creek is a reasonably wet place ordinarily with much rain; during July this area sees the most rain while October is ordinarily the driest month. Summertime brings highs
in the 80's to Loop Creek. For the period of the moonlight hours it's usually in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's, and overnight lows at Loop Creek during the winter typically sink into the 20's.
