Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in West Virginia are easier than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. If you're coming from Oak Hill it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful Fayette County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Not too many hotels nearby,
you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The North Page to Deepwater section of Loop Creek in West Virginia is 9.3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III(V) section of whitewater.
There are no other stretches to paddle along Loop Creek than the North Page to Deepwater stretch. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon.
Briefly about the general area: A great deal of rainfall falls at Loop Creek; July is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of the year is October. Throughout the summer
at Loop Creek temperatures are frequently in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Loop Creek are in the 20's.
