The natural beauty of Hampshire County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Winchester, as you can see on the road map further down. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in West Virginia are often more forgiving than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but

as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The Lost River to West Virginia 55/259 stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your camp stove.

which is a good hiking trail, and Bob Rawlins Spring is a pretty site to explore while you're at Lost River. The Brushy Hollow Trail is a fine hiking trail in the neighborhood of Lost River, and Reed Farm Spring is a perfect local attraction. The amount of rain that falls at Lost
