West Virginia whitewater - Meadow River, Fayette/ Greenbrier County Fayette/ Greenbrier county, East Rainelle to Russellville section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III-IV+(V)     15 miles   This stretch of Meadow River is 15 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV+(V) section. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Oak Hill, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in West Virginia are often more forgiving than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find     lots of paddling rivers. The beautiful scenery of West Virginia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The East Rainelle to Russellville section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: Meadow River is a wet place that gets lots of rainfall; July is the wettest month with most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month.
