West Virginia whitewater - Meadow River, Nicholas/Fayette County Nicholas/Fayette county, Nallen to Route 19 Bridge section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III-IV     5 miles   very nice river, needs to be cleaned Says Robert The Nallen to Route 19 Bridge stretch of Meadow River in West Virginia is 5 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. The wonderful Nicholas/Fayette County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Meadow River make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. Since you're on this site     you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The put-in location is a short drive from Oak Hill, as you can see on the road map further down. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. The campgrounds here at Meadow River are pretty good. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Nallen to Route 19 Bridge section is just one of them. Briefly about the general area: Good hiking is available along the Carnifex Trail. Summertime at Meadow River arrives with high temperatures   in the 80's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 60's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Meadow River. Meadow River is a rather wet place frequently with lots of precipitation; most of the rain falls all through July while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
