The beautiful scenery of West Virginia and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. The Nallen to Route 19 Bridge section of Meadow River is 5 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Nallen to     Route 19 Bridge section is just one of many. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The put-in is not too far from Oak Hill, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Briefly about the general area: Good hiking is available along the Carnifex Trail. A great deal of rainfall   falls at Meadow River; July is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is February. During the days of summer, highs generally are in the 80's at Meadow River with overnight lows in the 60's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Meadow River.
