The Confluence of Laurel Fork to Audra State Park section of Middle Fork is 5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III section. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. The put-in location is a short drive from Clarksburg, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot
of people coming here. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. The nature scenery
of Barbour/Randolph County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
Briefly about the general area: The high level of rain makes Middle Fork a reasonably wet spot; the month of July is the wettest with most of
the rain, and the driest of the months is February. Throughout the months of summer, highs usually are in the 80's at Middle Fork. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 30's, and nighttime lows through the winter for Middle Fork tend to be in the 10's.
