Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in West Virginia are easier than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. The wonderful West Virginia scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. This section of Middle Fork in West Virginia is 7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. This river system has
a few good paddling stretches and the Audra State Park to Tygart River Confluence section is one of them. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length
for a morning trip. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Clarksburg, as you can see on the road map further down. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Middle Fork a wet spot; through the month of July you get the most rain around here while February is typically the driest month. Summer at Middle
Fork comes with high temperatures in the 80's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Middle Fork.
