The Audra State Park to Tygart River Confluence section of Middle Fork in Barbour County is 7 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Clarksburg, as you can see on the road map further down. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Getting some good exercise
and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in West Virginia are easier than the national norm, so better not forget that rivers here are less demanding.
The Audra State Park to Tygart River Confluence stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. The wonderful West Virginia scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Middle Fork are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places.
