The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Beckley, as you can see on the road map further down. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so better not forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The natural beauty of Mercer County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. This is a pretty short section so no need to bring snacks. long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV section. There are no other stretches to paddle along Mountain Creek than the CR 4 bridge to Bluestone River stretch. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time
outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
