The wonderful Mercer County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Mountain Creek attract people from near and far. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Beckley, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in West Virginia tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots.
Mountain Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the CR 4 bridge to Bluestone River stretch is the only one. This stretch is short so no need to bring snacks. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because
