The put-in is not too far from Oak Hill, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The scenic beauty of Nicholas County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. The West Virginia 41 to Summersville Lake section of Muddlety Creek is 4.5 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This is the only paddling stretch along Muddlety Creek. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. A bit of exercise and a chance
to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. There are some good hotels near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots
of good spots for that around here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in West Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that rivers here are less demanding. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
Briefly about the general area: At Muddlety Creek all through the summer months highs are in the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 40's, and throughout the dark hours in the winter at Muddlety Creek temperatures fall to the 20's. All the water falling
down from the sky makes Muddlety Creek a wet site; during July this area sees the most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest.
