This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your camp stove too. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The natural beauty of West Virginia and the water flowing gracefully down New River will make you feel great. Whether you're
whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Oak Hill, please print out a copy of the road map further down the
page so you won’t get lost. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
