Whitewater rafting and kayaking in West Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The beautiful scenery of unknown County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This stretch of New River in unknown County is 7 miles long and     has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III section. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. There are many good hotels to choose from, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Briefly about the general area: New River gets a great deal of water; most of the rain falls throughout July, and February is the month with the least moisture. Throughout the days of summer, highs regularly are in the 80's at New River. When the night sets in temperatures sink down   into the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are commonly in the 40's with temperatures at New River dipping down into the 20's through winter nights.
