Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The beautiful scenery of Fayette/ Kanawha County and the cool fresh water have people coming here. Not too many hotels nearby,     you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The put-in is not too far from Oak Hill, as you can see on the road map further down. Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Paint Creek a wet location; July is the month that gets the most rain; January meanwhile is the driest month. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Paint Creek with night lows in the 60's.
