The Scherr to Dam stretch of Patterson Creek - North Fork is 8.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-III section of whitewater. If you're coming from Cumberland it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance
you're all set. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The campgrounds here at Patterson Creek - North Fork are pretty good. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle,
you can easily run it on an afternoon. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. Patterson Creek - North Fork doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Scherr to Dam stretch is the only one.
