West Virginia whitewater - Peachtree Creek, Raleigh County Raleigh county, Pineknob to confluence of Marsh Fork of Big Coal River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-III(IV)     1.4 miles   This stretch of Peachtree Creek is 1.4 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III(IV) section by American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of West Virginia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. There are no other stretches to paddle along Peachtree Creek than the Pineknob to confluence of Marsh Fork of Big Coal River stretch. This stretch is very     short so no need to bring snacks. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you're coming from Beckley it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in West Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. Briefly about the general area: A glorious spot to stop by close to Peachtree Creek is Rollyson Hollow. For the duration of the warm months here at Peachtree Creek, high temperatures mostly reach   the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Peachtree Creek dip into the 20's.
