Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. This stretch is short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The scenic beauty of West Virginia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The campgrounds here     at Peters Creek are pretty good. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Peters Creek generally tend to be in the 80's while nighttime lows are typically in the 60's. The winter comes with highs   in the 40's with temperatures at Peters Creek dipping down into the 20's during winter nights. Peters Creek is a quite wet place regularly with a good deal of rainfall; most of the rain falls throughout July, and February on the other hand is the driest. Don't leave Peters Creek without first checking out Koontz Bend; Koontz Flume Rapids is a magnificent local attraction. This river is so good. Lower Mash Rapids is always fun to check out, and hiking along the Way Back Trail is pleasant fun.
