The put-in is not too far from Beckley, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beautiful scenery of Raleigh County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: For the duration of the summer at Piney Creek temperatures are frequently in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's. Throughout the winter the highs are generally   in the 30's while Piney Creek overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 10's. Cyclone Hollow is in the neighborhood of Piney Creek and is certainly a tremendous spot to take a look at. Piney Creek frequently gets a large amount of rain; during July this area sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is February.
