The natural beauty of Summers County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in West Virginia tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. This section of Pipestem Creek in Summers County is 3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III(IV) section of whitewater. A good     workout and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is the only paddling stretch along Pipestem Creek. The campgrounds here at Pipestem Creek are pretty good. This stretch is short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch.
