The CR 23 to Ruddle stretch of Potomac River - South Branch is 10.1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside West Virginia you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem
and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The wonderful Pendleton County scenery and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. There's camping available near Potomac River - South Branch. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make
it an overnighter, so pack your sleeping bag. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here.
