The scenic beauty of Pendleton/ Grant County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: A short tour to Hermit Island Spring is always worthwhile, and don't leave Potomac River - South Branch without first going for a hike along the South Branch Trail. Potomac River - South Branch sees pretty high levels of rainfall; July is when you get the most rain here, and October meanwhile is the driest month. Good hiking is available along the Loop Trail.
