CLASS V+ 4 miles
This section of Red Run in West Virginia is 4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V+ section. This is the only paddling section along Red Run. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The nature scenery of Tucker County and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't
matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside West Virginia you might find the rivers here
a bit more manageable, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy.
Briefly about the general area: A lot of precipitation falls at Red Run; July is the month that gets the most rain, and February is when it's the driest. Have a pleasant hiking adventure along the Mountain Side Trail. While you're here at Red Run you can take a hike along the Limerock Trail, and Lester Falnagan Spring is always fun to check out. For the duration of the long summer days at Red Run temperatures are commonly in the
80's while nighttime lows are ordinarily in the 50's. All through the winter highs are regularly in the 30's with temperatures at Red Run dipping down into the 10's during winter nights.
