Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. The scenic beauty of West Virginia and the cool fresh water have people coming here. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance
because these hotels fill up quick. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. There are a few other sections in this river
system that can be paddled as well. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Roaring Creek; through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. During the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Roaring Creek. Don't leave Roaring Creek without first going for a hike along the Bennet Rock Trail, and Kent Lambert Spring is always
fun to check out. Go for a hike on the Green Mountain Trail, and do put some time aside to spend at Lester Falnagan Spring since you're here at Roaring Creek. Roaring Creek is a wet place that gets much rain; the wettest month of the year is mostly July, that's the one that rains the most while February is ordinarily the driest month. If you come to this river you will have a good time for sure.
