The Bridge at Hiram to Tygart Reservoir section of Sandy Creek in Barbour/ Taylor County is 3.3 miles long and has been rated as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. No matter     if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This section is quite short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. If you're coming from Morgantown it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Briefly about the general area: For the duration of the months of summer highs here at Sandy Creek reach the 80's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Sandy Creek.
