Whitewater rafting and kayaking in West Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. This section of Seneca Creek is 13 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V+ section. The scenic beauty of West Virginia and the water flowing gracefully down Seneca Creek will make you feel great. The campgrounds here at Seneca Creek are pretty good. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. This section has enough
mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your camp stove. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The nearby hotels are
a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
Briefly about the general area: The high level of rainfall makes Seneca Creek a relatively wet place; most of the rain falls through July while February is regularly the driest month. At Seneca Creek through the months of summer highs are in the 80's, and the nighttime is slightly colder of course, typically in the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are regularly in the 30's; after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Seneca
Creek descend into the 10's. Going for a hike on the Little Allegheny Trail is always a tremendous adventure. There are magnificent locations to explore along the Allegheny Trail, and Falls Of Seneca is always fun to check out.
