The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. The scenic beauty of Jefferson County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. The West Virginia 9 to Millville stretch of Shenandoah River is 3.7 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Getting some
good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. This is a pretty short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll
find lots of paddling rivers. There are many good hotels to choose from, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime at Shenandoah River comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's while Shenandoah River overnight low temperatures during the winter are in the 20's. All our national parks are brilliant spots to have a look

paying a visit to Johnson Springs. The annual precipitation here at Shenandoah River is about average; through May this area sees the most rain, and January on the other hand is the driest. If you come to this river you will have a good time for sure.
