If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. The wonderful West Virginia scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Sleepy Creek attract people from near and far. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. No shortage     of good hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the CR 13 to CR 9 section is one of them. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch of Sleepy Creek is 12.3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II(III) section. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. Briefly about the general area: A normal amount of rainfall falls here at Sleepy Creek; the month with most of the rain is May, and February is when it's the driest. During the summertime at Sleepy Creek temperatures are mostly in the 80's   while night lows are usually in the 60's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Sleepy Creek.
