The beautiful scenery of West Virginia and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The Sleepy Creek Dam to CR9 section of Sleepy Creek - Meadow Branch in Berkeley/ Morgan County is 9.9 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-V section of whitewater. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking,
either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The starting location is a short drive from Hagerstown-Martinsburg, as you can see on the road map further down. There are some good
sections to paddle in this river system, the Sleepy Creek Dam to CR9 section is one of them. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so better not forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
