The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in West Virginia are often more forgiving than in other states, so don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. The wonderful Greenbrier County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Spring Creek are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. This stretch of Spring Creek in West Virginia
is 6.4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. There are no other sections to paddle along Spring Creek than the Cordova to one mile below confluence of Robbins Run section. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river
for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
Briefly about the general area: Spring Creek is a rather wet place usually with much rainfall; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. During the warmest time of the year highs here at Spring Creek reach the 80's. Summer overnight lows fall down to the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are typically in the 40's with temperatures at Spring Creek
dipping down into the 10's all through winter nights. Going for a hike along the Big Run Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood.
