The nature scenery of Pocahontas County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside West Virginia you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The Confluence of Right Fork to confluence with Williams River stretch is the only paddling stretch along Tea Creek. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this
general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. The Confluence of Right Fork to confluence with Williams River stretch of Tea Creek in Pocahontas County is 2.9 miles long and it is classified
as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times.
Briefly about the general area: Through the warm days of summer at Tea Creek temperatures are typically in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the
50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 30's; through the dark hours in the winter at Tea Creek temperatures descend to the 10's. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Tea Creek Trail; do take a hike on the Williams River Trail. Tea Creek gets a large amount of water; July is when you get the most rain here; February is when it's the driest.
