This stretch of Tygart Valley River in West Virginia is 8.4 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III+ section by American Whitewater. The wonderful West Virginia scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. If you've been
whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. There aren’t
any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well.
