The Above Arden to Big Cove Run stretch of Tygart Valley River is 8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-V section of whitewater. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Morgantown, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The campgrounds here at Tygart Valley River are pretty good. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater     rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. Tygart Valley River is a reasonably wet place frequently with a great deal of rainfall; July is the month that gets the most rain, and February is when it's the driest.
