The nature scenery of West Virginia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so don't forget that rivers here are less demanding. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. No need to look hard for     hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Valley Falls to Hammond section is just one of many. If you're coming from Fairmont it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This is a short paddling stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The campgrounds here at Tygart Valley River are pretty good.
