The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in West Virginia are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The Up Forest Service Road to Seneca Creek section of Waites Run is 1.8 miles long and is a class IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area: Hiking along the Allegheny Trail is perfect fun, and a short journey to Falls Of Seneca is always worthwhile. Waites Run gets a good deal of water; during the month of July you get the most rain around here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Waites Run is right by the Little Allegheny Trail. Summertime highs at Waites Run generally   tend to be in the 80's. Summer overnight lows plunge down to the 50's. High temperatures all through the winter are normally in the 30's with temperatures at Waites Run dipping down into the 10's during winter nights.
